fantastic and rarely seen 1959 Jaguar Mark IX. Originally purchased in 1969 by the current owner from his brother, this fabulous Mark IX has excellent pedigree and history. If you have found yourself at a couple JCNA concours shows in the past couple of decades, then most likely you have seen this gorgeous Mark IX in person. The current owner states “The car has been exhibited a great deal in the last 25 years, mainly in Jaguar Club of America concours. In the early years, as I learned the rules and made improvements, it garnered 2nd and 3rd place finishes. It was competing against experienced exhibitors with excellent cars which didn’t beat my IX by much. Over time I was able to bring quality of the car up and learned more about preparation.” Over the last 25 years the Mark IX accumulated over thirty 1st in class awards and has won several of the biannual national contests. All awards, official score sheets and JCNA plates are included with the purchase of the car. The 1959 Jaguar Mk IX is a large and luxurious Saloon car was introduced in October 1958 and was produced alongside the Mark VIII for around a year before the earlier model was discontinued. It was replaced by the much larger Mark X in 1961. Around 10,005 units were made between 1959 and 1961 and excellent examples can be still be found, but it’s not easy. The Mark IX was the first Jaguar fitted with the XK engine which had the slightly bigger bore making it a 3.8 L, 220 hp DOHC straight six and improvement on the earlier 3.4 L. Finished in code correct Claret over Imperial Maroon over a Connolly leather maroon correct interior that features rear tables, Wilton Wool carpeting. The paint shows beautifully with only small minor imperfections visible upon close examination. Body fit and finish is quite good with no issues that we have found. Car also boasts extremely nice chrome and trim.
